SHOW TONIGHT IN BLOOMINGTON, IN - AUGUST 1, 2008

Three great Third Uncle bands will be performing tonight in Bloomington at The Cinemat starting at 9pm.

Vollmar (the band)
Elephant Micah
Microwave Background

We were sincerely hoping (and promised from our soon to be fired manufacturer) that we would have Elephant Micah CDs available at the show for a pre-release. After a lot of misleading, it has become apparent that we will not be getting the CDs today. We might be getting them as soon as Saturday (tomorrow), but we are very uneasy about the quality of the packaging based on the photo proofs we've seen. We sincerely apologize to all the fans out there that have been patiently waiting for the Elephant Micah and Vollmar releases.

Based on the presumption that the CDs we receive won't be what we need, we're making alternate plans to have CDs available soon. Elephant Micah will be doing a European tour in a few weeks (more on that later) and we WILL have the new CD available for the tour with alternate packaging. We're looking into going DIY for this one to get them done quickly (and with an attention to detail that, apparently, some manufacturers can't achieve).

Again, we apologize for all the delays. We've been getting empty promises for the last two months and we're ready to just go another way. Thanks so much for your patience.

MORE PRODUCTION DELAYS - JULY 3, 2008

We've just received word from the manufacturer that we should have Elephant Micah's Exiled Magicians CD in hand by the end of the month. We'll be working to get the CD to the distributors and in stores as quickly as possible after that. We will do our best to get website orders in the mail as soon as we get the CDs. We apologize yet again for the delays. We're as eager to get the album as you are!
PRODUCTION DELAYS - JUNE 4, 2008

Apologies to all of the Elephant Micah fans waiting for the new CD. Everything is at the manufacturer now, but we've run into some production issues with the master recording and are working through it. We hope to have the problem resolved quickly so we can get back on track. We're still hoping to have it out in late June / early July. We'll post more information as we have it. Thanks for your patience!
QUICK UPDATE - MAY 22, 2008

We've been extremely busy here at the label lately. It's been pretty much non-stop since the Jandek show in Philly. To update quickly, the new Elephant Micah CD is on its way to the manufacturer! We hope to have it in hand in a couple of weeks and we're making preparations for the official release date. It's not firm right now, but it's likely going to be late June / early July. It's looking like it will be a simultaneous release with the Vollmar 12" EP compilation. Luckily, the production is all done for that and it will be ready to go. Keep an eye out and we'll post more information as it becomes available.

SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT - APRIL 2, 2008

A lot of the Third Uncle Records crew and roster will be on hand for the Jandek show in Philadelphia at The German Society of Pennsylvania, Saturday April 12. We thought it would be a good time to do a show and so we threw one together for the festivities. Honey Radar is Jason Henn's (Kitchen Typists, etc.) new project and we're really excited to see their new live lineup. In fact, look for some Honey Radar to be released here on Third Uncle in the coming months. As a side note, the last time Gray Home Music played a show together was before the Jandek show in Indianapolis. We're beginning to notice a trend. We hope to see you there!

MARCH 12, 2008

So, we've decided to start a blog. It's new software to us, so we're still getting to know it and will be noodling with the blog and perhaps even deleting it and starting over. For now, though, there are a couple of entries and we'll try to keep up to date with things we're doing or stuff we just find interesting. It's mostly going to be music, movies, news stories, and weblinks. Typical blog type stuff. We'll continue to post record label specific news in this section, though.
Check it out!

ANNOUNCEMENT - FEBRUARY 19, 2008

The VOLLMAR self-titled 12" is ready to go and will be released soon!
Stay tuned for more news and the official release date.

Also, we're very excited to announce that Third Uncle Records will be releasing the next Elephant Micah full length!
More on that in the coming weeks.

NEW RELEASE for AUGUST 7, 2007!

Contorted in Deep Space

Red Queen Hypothesis Contorted in Deep Space (Third Uncle Records) CD

It's officially here! The new Red Queen Hypothesis album, Contorted in Deep Space! For the uninitiated, Red Queen Hypothesis is the flagship band of a large collective of Midwestern weirdos based out of Indianapolis and Richmond, Indiana. Red Queen Hypothesis - or RQH, as their fans call them - perform a timeless, fuzzy-cute pop that has drawn comparisons to the Polyphonic Spree, Guided by Voices, the Gerbils, and Jim Henson's Muppets. On Contorted in Deep Space, the group has distilled the pop promise of its earlier homemade releases into a focused, singularly catchy collection of tunes. Check it out in our online store!

MORE NEW RELEASES (AUGUST 2007)!

A couple more fine releases managed to sneak up on us without a lot of hubbub, but they're both great, to be sure and both very limited runs.

Peace Drills

Jason Henn Peace Drills (Third Uncle Records) CDR

First off is another limited edition CDR from Jason Henn, entitled Peace Drills. Culled from a large mess of untitled computer music that Jason had stashed away for quite some time, the Peace Drills cycle was improvised and edited together employing the notation software Finale as a sort of 21st century player piano. It's a dense 30-some minutes. Oh, and for the curious, the disc's title refers to one of several aborted attempts to find grant money to release the the material claiming that each piece was performed as a meditation on a particular geopolitical/historical/social something-or-other. No organization bought it, so we swooped in to make sure this gem saw a release.

Drifting Outdated Electronics

Gray Home Music Drifting Outdated Electronics (Third Uncle Records) CDR

Next is Gray Home Music's 3" CDR, Drifting Outdated Electronics. It's 10 new songs from Graham Wood, this time with the help of Lucy Beirne. Written and recorded entirely in February of 2007, this album takes Gray Home in a new direction with the addition of banjo(!). It's an unexpected twist that pays off. It's reminiscent of Wilco, mixed in with early 90s era Dinosaur Jr.

Both of these releases are now available in our online store.
